In the traditional school year there are 180 days of school and breaks for holidays.
One pro of year round school is children retain information better.
There is no long period of time between one year ending and another school year starting.
What do you think of students attending school year round?

Originally, in US, children had the Summer off so they could help on the farm during harvest season.

I am not a parent, and so I don't have much of an opinion about whether children go to school year around.  It should be decided by people for whom it is a live issue.  I do think that there is some advantage for family trips and bonding during the long Summer break.
