Which would you choose and why?

I hate regretting the choices I make for these things.

Both are powerful consoles, so games are not a problem (though x-box has an abundance). They both come with live interactivity if you're into that kind of thing. Wireless internet is a given. For me it came down to capability for blu ray and Sony is the only one that does that.

Sony Ps3 is nice if you like first part Sony titles and Blu-Ray. The Xbox 360 has Netfilx that can stream HD quality videos to your console and has the most games. There is hardly any 3rd party developers that don't create their game for Xbox 360. The Red Ring of Death does plague the Xbox 360 but I have 2 one I got in 06 and one this year and both have never had a problem. The newer models that have the Jasper chip and HDMI 1.2 support (does 1080P if u have HDMI compliant T.V.) you shouldn't have the problem.

The PS3 is the most powerful console out ther at the moment... but most 3rd party games like call of duty are actually designed for the Xbox 360 and ported to the other consoles so the difference is the same. The first party title for the PS3 is what bring out the raw power of the conosle, but these games are few.

If you get an Xbox 360, my gamertag is PredatorFL send me a friend request.

Well I have both and I prefer the PS3. But I've always been a sony fanboy over xbox. But yeah like its been said the PS3 is the more powerful one and has blu-ray so its good for that. I wouldn't worry about the xbox 360 having more games at the moment cause more developers will soon be utilising it for there future games. Same thing happened with the xbox and PS2, xbox got a lot of the sales at first but then the PS2 took over and stood as a great contender and outseller even when the 360 came out.

The PS2 came before the Xbox, I don't even think that the Xbox had any advantage of the last console war it was the PS3 of that gen.

I had the PS1 and never had a problem, my next console might be a PS4 or whatever the majority of my friends get, that's the reason why I got the Xbox 360.

ps3 out of long-term habit, but I will happily play both. The online gaming on the ps3 is also free, which is a bonus, and blu-ray technology will be good when they finally produce dvds that are not 30-40 quid a pop.

I'm thinking of getting one or the other as well. Not so sure yet. I do like the BluRay capability.

I don't like Blu-ray, waste of money in my opinion. Microsoft made a smart move and bought up tons of game developers before releasing the 360. In terms of games, Microsoft will always hold an advantage due to the amount of great developers they've got on their side and in their pocket. BioWare alone is enough of a reason to stick with Microsoft.

I want it as a multi-media machine over and above a gaming console, judging by what I have read her i reckon PS3 has the edge.   I might wait a while though to see what else might be on the horizon.

Well, remember that Xbox Live, while it costs money, is superior in every single capacity to the Sony equivalent. Digital Media is a very central piece in Xbox Live's evolving scale. It's your decision, though you have asked for input from the community. :D

yeah Netflix is pretty sweet and it plays videos in 1080p same as blu-ray, and you only pay so much a month.

not only Bioware but Bungie, Valve (Left 4 dead 2) I played demo 2-day awesome, and Capcom's upcoming Lost Planet 2.

One awesome game that will only be a PS3 exclusive is MAG graphics look a bit gimped but it's because u can play with 255 other people online.

BluRay is here to stay, wheter or not it matters today is a different thing. If Xbox gets BluRay support I'd probably get it over the PS3. Xbox Live, etc...

Blu-Ray is the new medium, but I really don't know how long it will be dominant the amount of people with broadband will be able to download movies digitally. There may be one day where u play your games using On-Live or other services (you guys should check it out, it plays digital games using your internet connection)only problem is that broadband is still too low for an effective service.

Personally I like physical copies of games and movies so I'm on the fence between PS3 and 360. Blu-Ray is nice but I'm not a big movie buff emmm that's why I bought a game console to play games, I watch Blu-Ray movies on my Blu-Ray player.
