Hello to you all

I was browsing Amazon for books on the recent economic crash and then it came to me, why not initiate a book review on World Historia?

Members post their own reviews and recommendations for various books primarily about history but also about other subjects we usually discuss in this forum.

What do you think?

Great idea, but the problem with forums as ever is searching and finding things.  Say it goes really well and we end up with hundreds of reviews - finding something specific would entail scrolling down pages in threads which some people have time and patience for but many don't.

An alternative might be to set up some sort of database with key filters but I don't know how realistic that is.  I think this would be a good resource both for audiences within and outside our community.

Agree with Zagros.

However, the existing search facility would enable someone to look for mention of  specific book/author.

Maybe there should be a (sub)forum with a separate thread for, say, each author name, or maybe each topic. Or both.

Great idea, I've been thinking about this one for a while. Of course, I would need permission to review non-historical books (English lit and maybe classic psychology) to be any addition.

I'd wager that the quality of reviews would be great and they would also serve as a platform for further reading. Full recommend Smile

I love this idea.  I use to write book reviews for the old AE mag and loved it.  Wouldn't mind picking up the old habit again.

Sorry Guys....

I read this back then, and thought is was a great idea as well.

Let me know what forums to create and where - maybe the sorting Zagros is talking about can wait untill we see how big the problem is or becomes...

I'd also suggest that we make a double on the Library Site...

I keep a log of all the books I've read on another forum I use. Its going back about 2 and a half years at this stage. I don't 'review' the books a such, just give a short description and/or EXTREMELY tepid analysis. I read for pleasure at this stage so I don't feel the need to analyse with a college students earnestness. I'd be happy to post them somewhere if anyone is interested (I doubt it!)

Any progress in setting up a viable system for book reviews on the website yet?  I would love if this idea came to light finally on this website.
