I must confess to not understanding Racial Intolerance, vilification etc.

I am a human being, and people coming to my country are also human beings. That they have a different belief system and different customs, I accept. I would prefer that they assimilated more into the wider community, and I expect that will come in time. I would prefer that they adopt more of the Australian customs and traditions, and that will also come in time.

But I certainly don't hate them. I don't despise their religeon and customs, so I don't understand why other people around the world violently protest at some of our immigrants.

There is a saying the "Ignorance breeds fear". Is that the case?

If so, there is an easy remedy-speak to the immigrant people, ask questions about their customs and beliefs, and whether or not you agree, respect the fact that the beliefs are theirs, and so are to be respected as such. Get to know them, as I have over many years and understand their belief system.

I dont know how much of this is really racially driven? But i do think ideology is often over looked over the more sexy advertising grabbing head line of "racism" as the only issue.

I think I agree with Panther on this.  If someone who is not as qualified for a job can appeal to the employer that X is a 'y' and therefore doesn't deserve the position.  It is an excuse, just as the assertion that the field is unlevel, and so 'something' has to be done to make it more level.  It is an excuse to stick one's hands in the cookie jar, to 'manage' the situation.

It is amazing how that ideology has gained control of the hip lingo.  Such as 'liberal,' and 'progressive.'
True liberalism (classical liberalism) is Adam Smith.

I see, a firm decision then, let's not rush into that.

We weren't talking about employment and such, it was about how some people are very intolerant of people from other countries and cultures, sometimes violently so.

I know, I'm old fashioned, but to quote Charlie Pride
"You know we're all his children
His next of kin that's the way it's began
No matter where you're going or where you've been
You are part of the family of men

And as you would know by now, I'm not at all religeous.
