The Australian Prime Minister, Mr.Tony Abbott yesterday announced that the government was reinstituting Knighthoods of the Order of Australia, which was dumped by the Labor government in about 1986.
The awards will only be made to people who have attained high office which they have not sought (that rule out politicians and their mates) and by which fact, they can never again aspire to private lives.
I suppose this will mean people like State Governors and the Governors General of the future.
There will be only four awards made annually.
The first two awards are going to the outgoing Governor General, who is now Dame Quentin Bryce, and to the new Governor General, who is now General Sir Peter Cosgrove, an Aussie icon.Clap
